I went to the city yesterday. I had several things to do there, but my main reason was daughter person was without wheels all day - and she didn't want to eat lunch at work. So I really just went to take her out for lunch. We went to a really great Thai restaurant, which has apparently been open for about a year.
The restaurant also just so happens to be next door to my favorite retail store. Sunworks is part store, part art gallery. How can you not love that? Besides the whole art gallery thing, the store itself is just really great. Eclectic with a conscious is the best way to describe it. The sign outside says it best though - "Not for department store shoppers."
Besides lunch I also managed to visit three of the galleries in town which had been on my to-do list for awhile. I had spoken with one of the galleries and said I'd bring by some of my work next time I was in town. So I did that; and as luck would have it the exhibit was The Blackfoot Portrait series by Calgary artist Teresa Posyniak. The significance of that is it relates to a series that I've had brewing for awhile, but haven't made much progress with.
I also was informed of a submission opportunity at one of the other galleries. Then I took the long way home and happened upon a farmer burning his fields. So all in all it was a great day.
